DIY: Studded Men's Coat

A while back I found an over sized black menswear inspired jacket at Nordstrom Rack and couldn't leave it behind.

As soon as I got home I stole one of my mom's Vintage buttons to replace the boring black one.

This gave it a more casual feel.

While I was content with this look for months, that changed when I ran across an adorable black coat by Mackage Oceana. This Neiman Marcus find was $750.00 !!!!

I went to Studsandspikes.com and picked two different sized studs to add to my menswear jacket.

for 150 black studs I only spent $8.00 + shipping!!!

DIY: Color Block Sunglasses

It feels like I haven't posted in FOREVER! Midterms really ate up a lot of my time, but now that it's SPRING BREAK, I can dive back into posting new DIYs. :)

This spring break I have been surrounded by girls in bright colors (neon especially) and a LOT of color blocking. However, one item I haven't seen color blocked is a cute pair of shades.

With a pair of sunglasses and some bright nail polish colors, you can make your own in under 30 minutes.

My white sunglasses are from Free People with cool eagles and stars on the lenses.

If you don't have a pair of white sunglasses, run out and get a cheap pair, or use an frames that are lying around at home and prime it with white nail polish.
The white is very important because you want the colors to turn out bright

If you're brave enough, pop out the lenses before you paint the frames.
If not use painters tape and carefully cover the lenses.

Choose large sections to devote one of your colors to.
When your done, you will have fun, bright, color blocked sunglasses.

ENJOY!

DIY: Alexander McQueen Inspired Skeleton Shorts

I spotted the most amazing shorts while surfing the Internet and had to make them .

It is no secret designers like Kermit Tesoro, DSquared2 and Alexander McQueen are some of my favorite designers. They always find innovative ways to incorporate skeletons and the human body in their designs.

Here is what you need to create this look :

> A pair of scissors
> A white colored pencil
> A pair of Levi high-waisted shorts
(I found a pair for $5.99 at my local Good Will).

I chose to cut the shorts with an upward angle towards the outside.

Next use your colored pencil to outline where you want the design.

By drawing it on first, you can try it on, make sure the spinal cord lines up with your actual spine and covers your derrière the way you want without committing to the bleach. When you have perfected the placement, bust out the bleach pen.

One side of the pen is a pointed tip to make it easy to do the outline.
The other side is wider which allows you to fill it in evenly.

Let it sit and rinse them after 10 minutes.

Because the jeans are black you are left with a copper/ tan color which looks beautiful with gold accessories. If you want a pair that is black and white substitute the bleach pen for a white fabric marker.

Enjoy!!
