A Little Bird Told me...

A little bird told me the hot new trend is feather hair extensions.

Google Images

Celebrities like Selena Gomez, Hillary Duff, and Ke$ha are sporting this new style with confidence.

In the past week I have seen multiple girls on campus looking sheik as their extensions effortlessly blew in the wind. These are super affordable and a kit can be bought online at Esty for only $40.00.

Don't want feathers in your hair?
Another trend I've seen recently in L.A. is girls wearing one long earring decorated with beautiful feathers.

This real peacock earring wrapped in gold leather strips can be purchased on Stylesalt.com on SALE for $38.00.

A few more ways to add this bird-friendly trend into your wardrobe...

All three of these choices are PERFECTION!

That little bird also told me this trend is here to stay.

Sam Edel-MINE!

After looking at all that CHEETAH last night, I still couldn't get enough. As i flipped through the  May 2011 issue of Cosmopolitan I stumbled upon a pair of unbelievable sandals. It didn't surprise me that it was by my one of my FAVORITE shoe designers Sam Edelman.
www.zappos.com
These Sam Edelman "Exie" thong sandals are sold out virtually EVERYWHERE! For a pricey $150, i couldn't say I wouldn't splurge just so I could strut these babies around town all summer.

I own a pair of Sam Edelman "Gwen" Sandals in Taupe and gold snakeskin.
Because I have almost worn a hole completely through the sole of the sandal, i opted to pull a purple and silver pair off google to save myself some embarrassment. These were a more affordable $65, and thank god, because it looks like I needed two pairs instead of one.

I am drawn to Sam's creations because of his love of SPIKES and STUDS.

Fashion Jungle Fever...

Last week I adopted an adorable kitten, Rae Charlotte (named after Ray Charles), and almost simultaneously had the urge to buy Cheetah Print! Coincidence...? I think not.

To avoid breaking my college budget, i decided to post a few feline fashion trends to take off the edge. ( Being a shopaholic is a SERIOUS ILLNESS people! One that will leave you looking fabulous but unmistakingly broke!)
www.NYpost.com

One of my style icons, Rachel Zoe, sports this cheetah print coat with a fur collar and cuffs. Its perfect paired with a simple black pant and top. After seeing this picture I blurted out one of her Zoe-isms, "I DIE!"

This multicolored animal print running shorts also adds a little incentive to hit the gym and tone up for the summer.
You don't always have to have cheetah/leopard print on your clothing, the statement can also be made in your accessories.

All images found on Google images

A Michael Kors bag, cocktail rings, or a Betsy Johnson watch are all great choices.

Who knew my little black kitten could give me fashion jungle fever?
Well done Rae... well done.

She Got it From Her Momma...

This post is dedicated to my mom who has always let me express myself through fashion. Even when it meant allowing me to buy shirts with monkeys on it (an absolute no-no!) or PINK OVERALLS (two words that should NEVER be in the same sentence!).

As I have gotten older, i have learnt what looks good, and what should be only used as material to start a bonfire.

The item i chose to feature today is a small purse that was passed down from my Grandma-T to my mom... and now passed down to me. It may be over 50 years old, but it still adds a fresh edge to my outfit.

By removing the metal chain loops with pliers, I updated it by making it into a clutch.

This gold blue and red, British-made purse is perfect with my heeled combat inspired boots and metal-twined silver cross. The multi-colored stones on the clasp also make it a little funky. Click on the picture to get a better look at the bag! Its even better up close!

Although I couldn't find one that was as awesome as mine ... :) ... I did find a few that are cute in their own right.

This gold scalloped bag would look great with my Chinese Laundry boots. I found it on SALE at Asos.com  for only $27.79!!!!

Another one that would be perfect is from Faddish-handbags.com

This Luella envelope clutch has a similar floral jacquard detail and can be found at Urban Outfitters. How perfect right?!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

The Coffee Shop Cutie...

If you know my best friend Becca, you know that she LOVES her tea.
(Her mom swears it will cure any ailment... and I cant lie... on a few occasions it seemed to work!)

What girl doesn't want to look good while sipping on a hot cup of --- ANYTHING? This effortless outfit is great for a coffee shop date. Who knows who you might meet there. (Right Becca? ;) Ha ha)

Her orange Tylie Malibu bag has Swarovski crystals that lines the entire leather strap.

Black H by Halston Angelica suade pumps from Bakers Shoes cost only $94.99 and also adds a little sparkle to her outfit.

her simple, grey dress looks effortless and comfortable. Add a sassy scarf with a touch of color and a chunky silver necklace and this plain dress now becomes the accessory to the other great pieces.

I mentioned before how much i love studs and how they are perfect thrown into an understated outfit.

One of my favorite headbands is this grey leather one from Nordstroms. for $19.99 it can be worn with almost ANYTHING.

Coffee anyone?

Granny Got Her Groove Back...

In the middle of the night last night I got the urge to make a soft, slouchy clutch. I ran over to my fabric box and pulled out the faux leather (the same as I used for my camera bag a few posts ago) and the granny floral print ( that i used on my Chanel tee).

First i cut both pieces of fabric (one side rounded) and pinned them so that it would stay in place while i stitched all the way around.

after that was done, I folded up the squared off side to make the actual pouch of the purse and stitched both sides.

this left me with a cool clutch effect. As much as I like simple accessories, i also like ones that are personalized and decided to add my new "brand" to the front.

With a few gun-metal Swarovski crystals (which you know I HAVE TO ADD), I finished my first signature clutch.

Look out for more Inked & Sewn items!
