With My Sincerest Apologies...

Dear Inked and Sewn Followers,

As a former intern for the company LUV AJ, I was honored to receive a beautifully crafted ring from a talented jewelry designer. Unfortunately, after making the Inked and Sewn Birthday giveaway public, it was brought to my attention that because I did not have authorization by the company to re-gift the LUV AJ piece or promote the LUV AJ name, I will have to withdraw it.

This weekend I will be posting an alternative giveaway for those who have already participated in posting on the facebook page. For those who have not had the chance to enter, I will be holding another one in the near future. My sincerest apologies to the Inked and Sewn readers and LUV AJ.

Guest Blogger:(Get This Look) Spring Favorites

Guest blogger Sarah Heckle shows us two great looks for this Spring.

I’ve been a Rachel Bilson fan ever since high school when The OC was my favorite show. Back then, I loved her character, Summer, and I tried so hard to channel her So-Cal style. Today, I always enjoy watching a Rachel Bilson chick flick, but what I most admire her for is her sense of fashion!
Rachel’s style is casual, effortless, but still trendy and chic. She’s one of those people who look like they simply threw something on – but in an amazing way. One trend that I think she pulls off flawlessly is maxi skirts. Here are two of my favorite maxi skirt looks – and how you can get the looks, too!

This outfit is so simple, but it looks amazing. I love her flowing pink skirt paired with the relaxed black tee, and the quilted handbag gives a glam vibe. This would be a perfect Saturday afternoon outfit for shopping or having lunch with friends.

Again, this outfit is casual, yet very trendy. Rachel wore a comfortable grey skirt with a nautical striped top, and a denim jacket layered over top. She was spotted in this outfit at the airport – maxi skirts are great and comfortable for traveling and long flights!

Do you love the maxi skirt trend?

Hope you enjoyed this amazing Get This Look post as much as I did!

DIY: Studded Men's Coat

A while back I found an over sized black menswear inspired jacket at Nordstrom Rack and couldn't leave it behind.

As soon as I got home I stole one of my mom's Vintage buttons to replace the boring black one.

This gave it a more casual feel.

While I was content with this look for months, that changed when I ran across an adorable black coat by Mackage Oceana. This Neiman Marcus find was $750.00 !!!!

I went to Studsandspikes.com and picked two different sized studs to add to my menswear jacket.

for 150 black studs I only spent $8.00 + shipping!!!

DIY: Color Block Sunglasses

It feels like I haven't posted in FOREVER! Midterms really ate up a lot of my time, but now that it's SPRING BREAK, I can dive back into posting new DIYs. :)

This spring break I have been surrounded by girls in bright colors (neon especially) and a LOT of color blocking. However, one item I haven't seen color blocked is a cute pair of shades.

With a pair of sunglasses and some bright nail polish colors, you can make your own in under 30 minutes.

My white sunglasses are from Free People with cool eagles and stars on the lenses.

If you don't have a pair of white sunglasses, run out and get a cheap pair, or use an frames that are lying around at home and prime it with white nail polish.
The white is very important because you want the colors to turn out bright

If you're brave enough, pop out the lenses before you paint the frames.
If not use painters tape and carefully cover the lenses.

Choose large sections to devote one of your colors to.
When your done, you will have fun, bright, color blocked sunglasses.

ENJOY!
